Member Group Information

TDL coordinates and supports several types of member groups, including User Groups, Working Groups, Committees and Interest Groups. The TDL Member Group Coordination Policy outlines policies and procedures for how these groups are formed and operate.

User Groups

User Groups convene users of a particular TDL service or associated technology for the purposes of mutual support and input on future development.

Members-only by default with open participation in some activities.

User Groups are chaired by a member of the TDL Community. A TDL Staff member serves as a liaison and co-facilitator.

Working Groups

Working Groups are formed and charged by TDL with accomplishing tasks or projects. Working Groups are ad hoc; they form to accomplish specific objectives and dissolve when those have been met.

Primarily TDL members; TDL may invite non-members to serve at its discretion. Working Groups are chaired by a member of the TDL Community or staff.

Committees

Committees are established by TDL to address on-going work of the consortium. Many TDL Committees are defined in the TDL Bylaws (e.g. Conference Committee, Executive Committee).

Membership rules vary. Committees are chaired by a member of the TDL Community.

Interest Groups

Interest Groups are community-organized groups that gather members around particular affinities, professional roles, or topics of interest. Any TDL member can propose an interest group, and the group can define its own membership and governance within certain guidelines.

Interest Groups have open membership by default and are chaired by a member of the TDL Community.
