DSpace 8.3+ upgrade
Order of Upgrades
TDL will upgrade its hosted repositories to DSpace version 8.3 in January 2026.
We are not able (for now) to provide a precise date on which each repository will be upgraded. We anticipate concluding the upgrades by Feb 6, 2026.

About the Upgrade
This will be a minor upgrade with minimal downtime and disruption.
You can see the list of fixes in the 8.3 release notes.
Please note this upgrade includes a security bug fix that will require reindexing the entire repository, as well as recreating thumbnails and text files generated by DSpace from submitted items. Those processes will occur overnight on the day of the upgrade.
Upgrade process:
Upgrades will take place between 5:00 and 6:00 pm CT each day.
During the upgrade, the repository will be down for 2 minutes or less.
TDL will generate a helpdesk ticket on the day your upgrade is performed to notify you and keep you updated.
No extensive testing is required.
