Accessibility of the DSpace Application

Texas Digital Library’s Digital Repository service includes hosting of the DSpace repository application. DSpace is an international, open-source digital repository software that, according to its Accessibility Statement “aspires to be as inclusive as possible for all users, including people with disabilities.” Its community of users and developers, which includes TDL, “are dedicated to creating an accessible and interoperable user interface” guided by Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

TDL contributes financially and in kind to the global DSpace development community to ensure continuous improvement to accessibility of the DSpace interface, and strives to provide an accessible experience for users through its hosting services. An accessibility conformance report for TDL’s Digital Repository service is available for download in the TDL Digital Repositories Accessibility Page

While TDL works to ensure that repository interfaces are accessible to users with disabilities, member institutions that deposit and manage content in those repositories are responsible for the accessibility of the files and metadata that users may access.
