2019 Vireo User Group Meeting
Dear Vireo Users Group,
Did you know that a new and improved Vireo 4 testing & demo site is available? There have been numerous bug fixes and additional development so the site is very close to completion. As you have time, please play around in it. Access information and instructions are at https://goo.gl/tZD5qg All VUG members are encouraged to try it out.
VUG meeting at USETDA conference (September 2018, Denver, CO) Stephanie provided the latest news on Vireo 4 and announced that Steering Committee member, David Reynolds from Johns Hopkins University, will be stepping down by the end of 2018 in preparation for a Spring retirement. Congratulations, David! Carolyn Morris of BiblioLabs was our guest who talked to the group about a service to fill the demand for print copies of open access ETDs. If there is enough interest, BiblioLabs could develop an application to provide this service through Vireo.
The first Community Sprint for Vireo development was a success and wrapped up on October 12. There were 6 volunteers testing deployment documentation and addressing tickets from the backlog.
The Texas Digital Library and VUG Steering Committee have started documentation for Vireo 4 and making plans for 2019. As promised, we will have another round of beta testing for what should be the final product. We will be counting on the Users Group to help get Vireo 4 ready for use before Fall of 2019.
Thank you on behalf of the VUG Steering Committee.
