Most E-Persons in a TDL-hosted repository are automatically created when a user affiliated with the home institution logs in via Shibboleth using their campus credentials.

However, Repository Administrators may need to create E-Person accounts and grant privileges to users not affiliated with the university.

Please note:

  • To add a user through this method, you will need to have the user’s email address.

  • The user will be required to reset their password in order to complete the setup.

  • The user will log in via a different page than other users. That page is the base URL for your repository followed by /password-login. For example: https://tdl-ir.tdl.org/password-login.

Steps for Adding a Non-Affiliated Users

To do this, you will need the e-mail address of the user you wish to add.

  • Login as a Repository Administrator.

  • In the menus to the right, under Administrative – Access Control, click People.

  • Click Click Here to Add a new E-Person.

  • Fill out all of the fields, check the box under Can Log In, and click Create E-Person.

  • After you have created the E-Person, again click on People (under Administrative – Access Control).

  • In the Search for E-People box, type the email address that you used to make the E-person and click Go.

  • Click on the name.

  • Click the Reset Password button.

  • DSpace will then generate an email that goes to the new user asking them to reset their password. At that point they can log in.

  • Once the user account is created, you can assign privileges to it as you would any E-Person.
