You MUST add an organization. Institution is the Vireo default level and should not ever be changed.
Benefits of hierarchies Enabling Hierarchical Organization Management allows child organizations to inherit (or copy) the settings of a parent. Upon creation the child organization will be exactly the same as the parent until a customization is made.
Changes made at the parent level will be inherited (or copied down) by the child levels to ensure consistency and make updating easier.
Hierarchies are displayed and organized by category in a triptych in Vireo. This means you can view up to 3 levels at a time: parent, child, grandchild or College B / M.S. Thesis / Biology in the example below.
If Hierarchical Organization Management is disabled, multiple workflows can still be created but they will be unrelated. Set up and all changes will be done individually and there will be no triptych.
All of the workflows will be in alphabetical order in a single column as seen in the image below.
