Be careful to select the name of a controlled vocabulary when uploading a new or corrected file.  The After clicking on the Upload Controlled Vocabularies button, you will see a window labeled "Manage Controlled Vocabularies".  Before uploading a new or updated vocabulary, download the vocabulary to be replaced by selecting the vocabulary under "Upload to:" then clicking on "Export CSV".    It is important to use an existing downloaded vocabulary as a template. 

Make changes and rename your file as you wish.  The name of csv file will not be displayed in Vireo, only the name of the controlled vocabularly vocabulary it is uploaded to.  when a cv Be careful to select the name of a controlled vocabulary when uploading a new or corrected file.

When a Controlled Vocabulary is updated, the changes in the file will show on the screen for confirmation before the uploaded file is processed.

Vocabulary lists can also be edited on screen in the third section of the Controlled Vocabulary Management Section. Simply from the drop down list and use the editing tools on the right of each row to add, edit, or delete data in the the vocabulary.

Use of columns in vocabularies

Controlled Vocabulary templates include column headers Name, Definition, Contacts and Identifier. 

Name is what will appear in the fields with the associated vocabulary in the student and staff views. 

Definition is for internal purposes and  (to be verified -→ are not visible to students or included in export files)

Contacts is for email addresses.  Do not add quotation marks to email addresses.  They will appear on screen with quotations automatically.  Note: You cannot take action on contacts in any controlled vocabulary unless it is paired with an Input Type for "people"   in a field profile

Identifiers are for advanced features.    The Identifier values in the Subjects CV vocabulary correspond to code subject codes used by ProQuest.
