Metadata Keys

The metadata keys in Vireo are preset to correspond to Dublin Core Metadata and the guidelines set forth by the Texas Digital Library's ETD Metadata Working Group. 

The correct metadata keys are assigned to all default fields in Vireo.   

Note that Metadata Keys are created automatically when adding a new field.  It is always better to change a label of existing field profile, than to create a new field, if the intent of a field meets your needs.  For example, the default field profile with the dc.contributor.advisor metadata key is labeled "Committee Chair", which is a term that is not used by all institutions.  Instead of creating a new field for a comparable role such as Faculty Advisor, Advisor, Supervising Director, etc just change the label from "Committee Chair" to the desired term.   See FIELD PROFILES for additional information.
